Wilmington Trust

Charitable Contributions

As part of the M&T corporate family, Wilmington Trust is proud to introduce the M&T Charitable Foundation. This Foundation strives to strengthen our communities by providing support for a diverse range of civic, cultural, health, and human service organizations.

Healthy communities can be the foundation of successful businesses. Through grants and in-kind services, the M&T Charitable Foundation works in partnership with nonprofit organizations that focus on improving the quality of life for our clients, staff members, and neighbors. Our decisions are made locally, by the people who know their communities best.

The M&T Charitable Foundation offers financial support and resources to many types of organizations, including, but not limited to, those that support:

  • Arts/culture
  • Civic affairs
  • Healthcare
  • Human services

People's United Community Foundation Grant Recipients FAQs

Yes. All 501c3 organizations that previously received funding from People’s United Community Foundation or People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern MA (“PUB Foundations”) are eligible to apply to the M&T Foundation.

Applications are accepting on a rolling basis. There is no grant cycle period or application deadline. However, we recommend that you submit your grant request around the same time period that you would have applied to the PUB Foundation.

Please plan to apply a minimum of 8 weeks before a decision is needed. It is our goal to ensure that requests are reviewed, and decisions are made, in a timely manner. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. Organizations will be notified of the status of their grant request as soon as possible to help meet your deadlines.

Yes. The M&T Foundation currently accepts both grant/programmatic requests as well as sponsorships/fundraising event requests. Therefore, if you are interested in submitting a request for sponsorship support in addition to grant support, more than one request can be submitted. Both Grant and Sponsorship requests are submitted utilizing the same Charitable Contributions Application form but should be submitted separately. The application will direct you to different questions based on your response for the type of funding support you are seeking.

No. Organizations are welcome to apply for funding that meets M&T’s charitable contributions guidelines.

Yes. At this time, all previous PUB Foundation grantees are eligible to apply to the M&T Foundation, regardless of the previous focus area that you applied to under the PUB Foundation.

While there is no minimum or maximum grant amount that you can apply for, we recommend that you apply for a similar range of funding support that you previously received from the PUB Foundation.

Progress updates, which are the outcome measurements that were reported in Blackbaud-PUCF’s grants management system, will not be required. However, we strongly recommend that you continue to submit a final report, as required in years past. We welcome information on the impact of the PUB Foundation’s previous funding support, which can be attached to your new application when applying to the M&T Foundation.

For those organizations that received past funding support from both People’s United and M&T, we welcome a conversation to discuss our partnership and future funding opportunities. Please contact your local Foundation representative to discuss further.
