Sarah Friedman Hersh, CFA
Head of Sustainable Investing & Senior Portfolio Manager
Sarah leads Wilmington Trust’s sustainable investing efforts. She serves as co-portfolio manager for the ESG Equity Strategy, leads the firm’s efforts in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors across investment strategies, and contributes to investment stewardship and third-party manager research. She is responsible for driving collaboration across the organization to promote sustainable investing practices and deliver value to clients.
Sarah joined Wilmington Trust in 2024 following eight years at Vanguard. Most recently, she served as Vanguard’s US/Enterprise Head of ESG, where her team was responsible for enabling the success of the US ESG investment product lineup across asset classes and contributing sustainable investing expertise to enterprise strategy, risk, and governance decisions. She previously established the company’s first ESG product management function and led board- and executive-level engagements and a proxy voting team covering energy, utilities, materials, industrials, and telecom companies.
Sarah began her career in philanthropy at UJA-Federation of New York. She holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Kenyon College. She is a CFA® charterholder and member of the CFA Society Philadelphia, where she serves on the Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership Committee. She also holds the IFRS’s Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential.
