Director – Next Generation Initiatives

Taylor is the Director of Next Generation Initiatives for Wilmington Trust. In this role, he works with our national client relationship teams to take advantage of and incorporate Wilmington Trust’s strategic initiatives into relationship management and business development practices. He also works closely with internal business line partners to develop and deploy innovative solutions for client retention, engagement, and acquisition.

Taylor is an active member of the Nexus Global Youth Summit community, having hosted sessions for philanthropists and entrepreneurs at the United Nations and U.S. Institute of Peace. He has also served on the advisory roundtable for the U.S. State Department’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond in International Business and Marketing. He also studied at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australian, focusing on the Asia-Pacific business environment as well as at Charles University in Prague, focusing on Czech literature and language. Taylor is a graduate of M&T Bank’s Management Development Program.

Taylor has been published in the Journal for Global Business & Community and is a guest contributor to Family Office Exchange (FOX) publications.

Andrea Spahr

Vice President and Marketing Manager, Family Wealth

Andrea is responsible for partnering with the Family Wealth business leadership team to deliver against the team’s business goals by coordinating and aligning the business’s marketing strategies and programs. She serves as liaison between the client-facing sales team and relationship managers, as well as the broader marketing team, to develop and execute targeted communications, thought leadership, and events for high-net-worth clients and prospects.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust in 2004, Andrea was the marketing manager for the YWCA of Delaware, where she was responsible for the marketing budget and strategic plan, handled all agency communications and public relations, and planned and executed all donor cultivation and educational events. During her tenure she also led the launch of a new agency brand and communications standards.

 

Andrea holds a Masters of Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Spanish Language/Latin American Culture from the University of Delaware. She is fluent in Spanish.

Andrea is a founding member of the Steering Committee for the Women in Networking (WIN) group at Wilmington Trust, and has volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Delaware, the Delaware Center for Horticulture, and the YWCA of Delaware’s Annual Gala.

Vice President and Private Client Advisor

Matt provides wealth management advice to high-net-worth individuals and families throughout the United States. Matt works closely with clients and their advisors to develop sophisticated financial strategies that help clients meet their current and long-term objectives.

Matt has more than a decade of experience in financial planning and execution, specializing in trust and estate planning, income tax planning, and investment management including closely-held and low basis stock strategy implementation. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust in 2011, Matt held senior advisory roles at Knight Capital Group, U.S. Trust Company, and Ernst & Young’s Personal Financial Counseling group. A noted public speaker, Matt has facilitated financial planning seminars nationally to corporate executives, trust and estate officers, and philanthropic groups including a series at Lincoln Center.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and serves as his Class President and as a member of the Alumni Leadership Council. Matt is also a proud board member of Career Gear, a non-profit organization committed to helping disconnected men improve their employability through gifted suiting, interview coaching, and a series of professional development and mentoring programs.

Nickole is responsible for providing comprehensive wealth management advice to high-net-worth individuals and families, business owners, and foundations and endowments throughout the Buffalo region. She works closely with clients and their advisors to develop financial strategies that help clients meet their current needs and plan for their long-term objectives. Nickole ensures that clients receive the appropriate blend of services based upon their unique needs, including investment management, planning, trust, family governance, and family office services.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Nickole managed the accounting and finance consulting practice for Robert Half Management Resources in Buffalo. The majority of her career was spent in public accounting with a focus on audit and consulting. During her 7+ year tenure with Ernst & Young, Nickole specialized in healthcare and eventually went on to join The Bonadio Group to specialize in the nonprofit sector.

Nickole holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Binghamton University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a licensed CPA and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Nickole is actively involved in her community and sits on a number of local nonprofit boards and committees. She is an active member of the Explore and More Children's Museum Board where she serves as a Community Campaign Leader for the Museum's waterfront development initiative.  She is also an inaugural member of the University of Buffalo's Family Business Program Executive Advisory Board, Co-Chair of Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology's Institutional Advancement Committee, Chair of Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy's (BOPC) Business Council, and Chair of Women United's Recruitment Committee. She also serves on the Finance/Audit Committees of the United Way and BOPC.

Vice President and Director, Family Governance and Education

Marie is responsible for management of Wilmington Trust’s Family Governance and Education area. She works closely with Tom Rogerson, Senior Family Wealth Strategist, in the non-investment component, assisting families with communication, philanthropic vision, legacy planning, succession, and education to increase families’ chances of sustaining their wealth over generations. In addition, Marie works directly with advisors as they help client families to identify objectives and to incorporate them into a comprehensive plan.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Marie was Director of Development for the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where she was responsible for obtaining over one-third of the institution’s annual revenue. Earlier in her career, she held positions with the High Museum of Art and with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in their Institutional Development group. Marie leverages her 15 years of philanthropic experience to help families develop strategic charitable initiatives that generate transformative outcomes.

Marie holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia and attended The Westminster Schools. She serves as a volunteer for the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Fernbank School. She is also a member of and serves as fundraising counsel for the Southern Foodways Alliance.

As a recognized leader and pioneer in family governance, Tom introduces clients throughout the U.S. to his “5 Steps to Healthy Family Governance,” which assists families with communication, philanthropic vision, legacy planning, succession, and education. Tom incorporates these critical issues into a client’s comprehensive wealth management plan, not only helping to prepare the money for the family, but to also prepare the family for the money.

Tom joined Wilmington Trust in 2011 with more than three decades of experience in the wealth management industry. For over a decade, Tom has provided guidance and education to help prepare families as wealth is transitioned from generation to generation. He most recently served as managing director of family wealth services for BNY Mellon wealth management. Previously, he was national director of estate tax planning with State Street Global Advisors in Boston, assisting clients with estate planning and family governance. Earlier in his career, Tom served as director of financial and estate tax planning with Coopers and Lybrand and was national director of estate tax planning for Kidder, Peabody & Co. He holds a bachelor’s in Economics from Ithaca College.

 

Tom is an international speaker on the topic of family governance and continues to be invited to speak to wealthy individuals and entrepreneurs around the world. Christy is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for her clients based on their unique parameters for risk, return, liquidity, and other factors. After taking the time to listen to her client’s objectives and to understand any tax, legal, and personal considerations, she then structures a diversified portfolio in keeping with the client’s asset allocation plan. Christy continually monitors and periodically rebalances her clients’ portfolios to reflect their evolving needs and to pursue new investment opportunities.

Prior to joining the investment management team, Christy served as a trust accountant in the Tax Department at Wilmington Trust. Her experience in taxation allows her to construct portfolio rebalancing strategies utilizing a tax advantaged approach.

Christy holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Delaware, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the CFA® Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia, where she serves on the Women’s Advisory Council. Christy volunteers her time with Meals on Wheels.

Chris is responsible for developing and implementing customized investment advisory solutions for Wilmington Trust. In this capacity, Chris leads our 80+ investment advisors to ensure the integration of the organization’s best thinking with our clients’ current portfolios and preferences.

Chris has specialized in the wealth management business for over two decades. He joined Wilmington Trust in 2001 to provide investment advice to some of our largest clients. Since 2006, he has played a leadership role in the management of Wilmington Trust’s investment advisors. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee which is charged with developing Wilmington Trust’s strategic and tactical asset allocation advice. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Chris served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager for PNC Advisors.

Chris holds a master’s degree from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Valparaiso University. He earned the Chartered Financial AnalystTM designation in 2001 and is a member of the CFA® Society of Philadelphia. He has taught portfolio management at the graduate (MBA) level and frequently speaks on markets and the economy. From 2009-2013, he served as President of and is currently a deacon for Concordia Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE.
