Director of Next Generation Initiatives

Taylor is the Director of Next Generation Initiatives for Wilmington Trust. In this role, he works with our national client relationship teams to take advantage of and incorporate Wilmington Trust’s strategic initiatives into relationship management and business development practices. He also works closely with internal business line partners to develop and deploy innovative solutions for client retention, engagement, and acquisition.

Taylor is an active member of the Nexus Global Youth Summit community, having hosted sessions for philanthropists and entrepreneurs at the United Nations and U.S. Institute of Peace. He has also served on the advisory roundtable for the U.S. State Department’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond in International Business and Marketing. He also studied at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australian, focusing on the Asia-Pacific business environment as well as at Charles University in Prague, focusing on Czech literature and language. Taylor is a graduate of M&T Bank’s Management Development Program.

Taylor has been published in the Journal for Global Business & Community and is a guest contributor to Family Office Exchange (FOX) publications.

Marguerite Weese

Director of Wealth and Fiduciary Planning

Marguerite is responsible for developing customized wealth management strategies and financial plans for Wilmington Trust’s most prominent individuals, families, and business owners. She works closely with other professional and family advisors to structure comprehensive financial plans to help clients meet their current objectives and achieve future personal and financial goals. Marguerite oversees the organization’s intergenerational family trust and estate educational offering.

Before joining Wilmington Trust, Marguerite was an associate in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ personal financial services group in their Philadelphia office.

 

Marguerite holds a Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws in Taxation from Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law, and earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Marguerite is an adjunct professor at both the Charles Widger School of Law and Temple University Beasley School of Law. She is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Section’s Executive Committee and an active participant in the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. Marguerite is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for WOMEN’S WAY.

Chief Fiduciary Officer

Don serves as Chief Fiduciary Officer for Wilmington Trust’s Wealth Management Division, overseeing the development and delivery of our trustee and planning services. Don and his team provide families and business owners with strategic wealth planning advice and assist them in the implementation of their estate and business succession plans.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust in 2008, Don was the Director of Estate Planning and Senior Fiduciary Counsel for The Vanguard Group in Malvern, Pennsylvania. His past experience also includes the private practice of law and active duty service as a Judge Advocate in the United States Army.

 

Don earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his law degree from New England Law in Boston. He also holds a master of laws (LL.M.) degree in taxation from Temple University Law School and a master’s degree in moral theology (Christian ethics) from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.

Don is an adjunct professor of tax law at both Villanova and Temple University Schools of Law and a frequent lecturer and author for the American Law Institute and other professional associations. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. Don is an Ordained Deacon in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Head of Family Wealth

Bill LaFond is Head of Wilmington Trust’s Family Wealth Division. In that role, he oversees the development and delivery of advice and services for many of Wilmington Trust’s largest and most prominent client families.

Bill has been with Wilmington Trust Company for 13 years and has more than two decades of experience helping clients with issues such as investment management, trust planning, risk management, business succession planning, and retirement planning. Prior to his role as the head of the Family Wealth Division, Bill opened and led Wilmington Trust’s Greater Washington DC and Central Virginia Markets.

 

Bill holds a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton.

Bill contributes his time to a number of charitable organizations, including service on the following Boards and Committees: the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee for Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland; the Board of Trustees of the Ministry of Caring;  the Gala Committee of Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE;  and the Finance and Investment Committees of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.

A noted public speaker, Matt has facilitated financial planning seminars nationally to corporate executives, trust and estate officers, and philanthropic groups including a series at Lincoln Center.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and serves as his Class President and as a member of the Alumni Leadership Council. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Nickole managed the accounting and finance consulting practice for Robert Half Management Resources in Buffalo. The majority of her career was spent in public accounting with a focus on audit and consulting. During her 7+ year tenure with Ernst & Young, Nickole specialized in healthcare and eventually went on to join The Bonadio Group to specialize in the nonprofit sector.

Nickole holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Binghamton University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a licensed CPA and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Nickole is actively involved in her community and sits on a number of local nonprofit boards and committees. She is an active member of the Explore and More Children's Museum Board where she serves as a Community Campaign Leader for the Museum's waterfront development initiative.  She is also an inaugural member of the University of Buffalo's Family Business Program Executive Advisory Board, Co-Chair of Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology's Institutional Advancement Committee, Chair of Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy's (BOPC) Business Council, and Chair of Women United's Recruitment Committee. She also serves on the Finance/Audit Committees of the United Way and BOPC.

Christy is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for her clients based on their unique parameters for risk, return, liquidity, and other factors. After taking the time to listen to her client’s objectives and to understand any tax, legal, and personal considerations, she then structures a diversified portfolio in keeping with the client’s asset allocation plan. Christy continually monitors and periodically rebalances her clients’ portfolios to reflect their evolving needs and to pursue new investment opportunities.

Prior to joining the investment management team, Christy served as a trust accountant in the Tax Department at Wilmington Trust. Her experience in taxation allows her to construct portfolio rebalancing strategies utilizing a tax advantaged approach.

Christy holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Delaware, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the CFA® Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia, where she serves on the Women’s Advisory Council. Christy volunteers her time with Meals on Wheels.

Chris is responsible for developing and implementing customized investment advisory solutions for Wilmington Trust. In this capacity, Chris leads our 80+ investment advisors to ensure the integration of the organization’s best thinking with our clients’ current portfolios and preferences.

Chris has specialized in the wealth management business for over two decades. He joined Wilmington Trust in 2001 to provide investment advice to some of our largest clients. Since 2006, he has played a leadership role in the management of Wilmington Trust’s investment advisors. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee which is charged with developing Wilmington Trust’s strategic and tactical asset allocation advice. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Chris served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager for PNC Advisors.

Chris holds a master’s degree from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Valparaiso University. He earned the Chartered Financial AnalystTM designation in 2001 and is a member of the CFA® Society of Philadelphia. He has taught portfolio management at the graduate (MBA) level and frequently speaks on markets and the economy. From 2009-2013, he served as President of and is currently a deacon for Concordia Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE.
